By Editorial Staff -
The Teopanzolco Cultural Center by Isaac Broid + PRODUCTORA (THE PLAN 101) won the first prize at the 2018 Oscar Niemeyer Award for Latin American Architecture. The Oscar Niemeyer Award is the most prestigious prize for Latin American architecture and is attributed every two years to a single work of architecture previously awarded in a Latin American Biennial. This year, The Teopanzolco Cultural Center was selected amongst 104 participating to belong to the list of the 20 finalists, announced by the jury on October 10. The jury consisted of Cesar Shundi Iwamizu (Brazil) proposed by the Niemeyer Foundation; Fabian Farfán Espinosa (Bolivia) proposed by FPAA; and the architects Carla Juacaba (Brazil), Carlos Jimenez (Costa Rica) and Jean Pierre Crousse (Peru) proposed by REDBAAL (Architecture Biennial Network of Latin America). The award ceremony and exhibition of the 20 finalist projects took place at the headquarters of the College of Architects of Mexico City (CAM SAM) on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
