IL SERENO HOTEL
By Editorial Staff -

The gracious village of Torno, nestling on the shores of Lake Como, is the backdrop for the Patricia Urquiola - designed Il Sereno Hotel. The complex achieves an elegant balance between reflecting the surrounding nature - the colors of the lake, the imposing mountains - and reinterpreting Giuseppe Terragni’s rationalist architecture. The hotel has 30 suites (ranging from 60 to 200 sq m), a spacious terrace overlooking the lake and a spa carved out of the old, renovated dock. The interiors shine with care for detail and carefully chosen materials, a powerful harmony of architecture and interior design that produces a thrilling, beautiful result. Outside, formal crispness and excellent functionality merge to ensure guest comfort, with sunscreens protecting the projecting terrace with a lake view. For these screens, Resstende’s Boston roller blinds were used. Six were needed, with three for the restaurant terrace and the other three for the lounge terrace. The unique setting meant the blinds had to be customized, with ad hoc brackets and a specially integrated D75 Traction Kit to guarantee optimal wind resistance. The CT135 extruded aluminum headbox, with a fixed and movable section, can also be inspected to facilitate any required maintenance. The screening was made with hazelnut colored Vuscreen Messina fabric as it fits beautifully with the wood on the façade and the hues of the surrounding mountains. The clean, linear design makes the screening integrate elegantly into the rest of the structure, adding to the quality of the outdoors areas and providing spaces for year-round enjoyment.
