A new Class A+ energy self-sufficient university administrative building was recently inaugurated in Italy’s earthquake stricken town of L’Aquila. The architectural and executive project prepared by Parma-based CeP Consulenza e Progetti provides for a wooden structural frame and infills of dry laminated panels Placo and Rigips by Saint-Gobain guaranteeing high standards of safety, thermal and acoustic insulation, energy-performance, flexibility of use and eco-sustainability. The panes are also quick and easy to install. Saint-Gobain Glass Climatop One glass was opted for. Comprising three crystal-glass panes separated by two Krypton-gas filled cavities, this high-tech insulating glass affords excellent light transmission, heat transmittance and solar factor ensuring comfort-zone temperatures even on the hottest days of the year.
A photovoltaic plant comprising Mitsubishi Electric modules and inverter will provide all the building’s energy needs. Air conditioning, heating and hot water will be provided by a Mitsubishi Electric heat pump, the optimal non-polluting, energy-saving solution.
The systems adopted afford occupant comfort and energy saving all year round, reducing energy consumption for both heating and air conditioning.
